The 2026 NHL Stadium Series draws inspiration from swashbuckling pirates, gleaming gold doubloons, clashing cutlasses, and roaring cannon fire, paying tribute to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the legend of José Gasparilla.
The core of the logo references Buccaneer Cove and its 103-foot long replica ship, as Raymond James Stadium has the unique distinction of being the one and only football stadium to feature a pirate ship, fully decked out with cannons that fire off after every touchdown.
The logo also honors the Gasparilla Pirate Festival, a storied event hosted annually in Tampa Bay that commemorates pirate legend Jose Gaspar, known as the “last of the Buccaneers,” and the lore surrounding the crew of the Gasparilla and their expeditions around the Gulf of Mexico plundering ships and amassing a fortune of gold. Each year, the city recreates the fictional invasion of Gaspar and his pirate crew with a parade of ships, cannon fire, and buccaneer costumes. In 2026, the Gasparilla celebrations will culminate with the NHL Stadium Series game, scheduled for the day after the festival concludes.
Additional elements in the logo include sword-serif typography inspired by hand drawn treasure maps and Ybor City’s ornamental ironwork. Icicle elements nod to the new refrigeration system being used to maintain the rink’s ice in the Florida heat. A hidden lightning bolt in the tattered sail atop the ship serves as a subtle nod to the home team, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
